Narrative:

All grade levels and the district as a whole met adequate yearly progress (AYP) standards as set forth in No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Grade 5 reading scores showed a decrease in the number of students proficient by 9%. All other areas showed increases in the number of students proficient. Grade 11 demonstrated the greatest increases with an increase of 9% in mathematics and 12% in reading. It is important to note that we are not comparing the same group of students from one year to the next. This is further complicated by the small number of students in our grade levels as a small sample size can have a significant impact on the changes in scores by a small number of students on either end of the scale. The district continues to work hard to identify areas where improvement will have the greatest impact and to implement programs to address these areas. We are confident that we are improving the education of our students and will showed continued improvement in PSSA scores in future years.
